Hey peeps!

I have had a mini flood of messages asking me where my art has all gone, but fear not, I have not been hacked and deleted, I've just stored my work temporarily to add watermarks to it all. This is for a number of reasons; mainly because it has been brought to my attention via my facebook that some of my work has been reproduced as prints by some individuals in the US and being sold (without my knowledge or permission) at conventions in the states. So unfortunately, due to the actions of these unscrupulous few, I have decided to watermark all my works and not allow them for public download. I am also in the early stages of developing my own studio website that I will hopefully have up and running for business in the next few months.
But I want to thank all the lovely friends on DA that have supported me thus far and really got behind my work; it is a pleasure to have this outlet to share my creativity with you. So fear not! I will be back, just in a, hopefully, more secure sense!

Best wishes all,

Matt

Hi lovely deviants!

Well, after a tumultuous and very self-reflective year, the summer academic term is finally winding down in preparation for the holidays; cannot wait to be on that plane to Turkey on Sunday! It's been a difficult one this year as mentioned, but things now seem to be shaping themselves up to (hopefully) fly onward and upward. Although I am still working at the high school I have worked for for the past year as a teaching assistant, I have finally realised that it's art and creativity that are the true happy places for me and they should be given the importance in my life and career that they demand.

After doing lots of recent research into the career/business side of the art industry, specifically in relation to my comic-y niche style, I feel my eyes have been opened to a whole range of possibilities when it comes to getting my art out there in the big wide world. DA has always been there as my outlet to do this, but I have, for some reason, always been reticent to make my art available as prints and merchandise; something which IS going to change in the very near future. Perhaps I never felt self-confident enough to really push my art forward or doubted its quality but that is now something I see to be a real stumbling block for myself if I ever wish to fuse my creative skills with my career properly.

The real question now is: which pieces are favoured in the now huge portfolio of work I have ammassed over the last few years being a part of the DA community? And that's where you good people come in. Before making an extensive range of my work available, I would like YOU guys to feedback on which particular pieces are the most desired as products from my gallery. What are your faves? Which, in your personal/professional opinions, are the most attractive, marketable and 'most requested' pieces I should offer up?

So feedback to me with your thoughts and feelings or just say hi - because I always love to hear from you regardless! :) Oh and if you have any 'art-as-career' advice of your own, I would love to hear it! :)

Hope all is well with you all and I promise I will be updating this more frequently as of NOW!

love and magical-ness!

Commissions

3 min read

Hey guys!

Apologies for the epic misery-fest that was my last joural posting, but I've managed to pull myself out of that funk for the time being and it's back on with the art. Also, I'd just like to thank everyone who replied to that last entry; you all had some amazing and heartfelt advice and contributions, so thanks, that helped me big time. I really do have some amazing contacts in you guys. :hugs:

Anyhoodles: commissions! Time for me to get organised with this. :) Thank you sooo so much for the interest that has been expressed so far and I have my first batch of jobs on the slate I feel. I will list the peeps who will be the recipients of the first four pieces and I will note all of you to firm up the details and send you the paypal details relevant to the work you desire me to do. I will use the little commissions' box for listing what jobs I currently have open or am working on, so please keep checking and/or noting me about anything. :)

Thnks for the comments on all my art as always, be safe and get in touch with any questions of any kind! :)

Best wishes and keep safe!

Matt ;)

Hey lovely people,

Hope everyone is well and enjoying themselves wherever you may be. ;) As those of you who follow my updates to my gallery know, there have been some monolithic undertakings in regard to the volume of drawing I've been doing as of late. Firstly, there was the epic X-men roster pic that I finally inked up and completed in that regard at the close of summer; then I started drawing as many of the mighty marvel heroines that I could to place into one giant composite picture of as many of them as I could squish together in one large pinup. Shockingly enough, after all this I don't appear to have repetitive strain injury so maybe I've drawn through the pencil-cramp threshold! :D

As for what's coming up next, I have three costume redesigns I've been working on for Wonder Woman, Donna Troy and Wonder Girl. Followinf the controversial shakeup that the Amazon princess' book has gone through as of late, I decided to start doodling down MY OWN idea of what Wondy should look like. I will probably get horribly disfigured when I complete these designs by angry WW fans, but I really have tried to maintain a feminine, warrior-istic and mythological tint on the costumes of the lady herself and Troia. Cassie Sandsmark is slightly different, being the younger, hipper representative on the Teen Titans, so I made her outfit more mature to fit with her older teenage look, and incorperating more of Diana's insignias in a bold fashion. Hopefully those will be up here for to see soon.

I also have a late lil bit of news regarding the aforementioned X-men roster pic...THE COLOURS ARE FINALLY DONE!!! I am so relieved to have properly completed it, but I have to admit it is the biggest piece in terms of character volume, detail and colours I have done to date, and due to those things, I'm pretty proud of it overall. As soon as that is scanned in, it'll get it's final unveiling.

I have also had a lot of interest expressed to me regarding commissions as of late via private messages. I do have a little time over the coming two weeks to complete maybe four or five single character pinups including inks and full copic marker colours. I will be placing these at a charge of $35 (excl. S+H if you want the original mailed to you) which will be required upfront so that I can get straight on with the projects. These five spots will be first come first served so get in there to avoid disappointment peeps! ;) I will be repeating this opportunity in the future though so keep noting me. It's really appreciated.

Otherwise, I hope everyone is well and safe, thanks for all the comments and messages as always; I LOVE to hear from new peeps. ;) As well as the established ones too! ;)

Best wishes,

Matt ;) (Crimsonsea)
